The Honda Institute recently hosted a very special meeting for members of the S2000 Owners’ Club. The event, staged at Honda’s state-of-the-art training facility in Berkshire, was a huge success attracting a colourful parade of the company’s award-winning, two-seater sportscars. No fewer than 35 owners attended the day, which was specifically designed to give club members a greater insight into the history and workings of their S2000s and was hosted by Honda Institute trainers Raj Johal and John Hensman.
After being introduced to the original concept of the S2000, the group was given a detailed look at the diagnostic tools available for engine analysis. Benefiting from Honda’s innovative VTEC technology, the 2-litre, 237bhp power plant fitted to the S2000 is the highest revving and most powerful in its class. The owners were amazed to see the levels of diagnostic information accessed through the HDS (Honda Diagnostic System) computers, which enables a trained Honda technician to interrogate the S2000’s engine ECU (Electronic Control Unit).
The informative and entertaining day ended with an update on the latest 2006 S2000 model and other future developments before the multi-coloured 35-car fleet left the Institute in a symphony of Honda revs.
“This has been a fun day for all of us! Our S2000 owners are among our most knowledgeable and passionate, so it was great to be able to give them the opportunity to get inside Honda and learn more about their amazing car,” reported Johal.
